Location: Beijing Airport, Flight Cancellation Record. This afternoon, I took a bus from Chengde, transferred to the subway, then the airport express, spending five hours to drag myself all the way back to Beijing Airport. I got my boarding pass, passed security, bought a drink, and had just sat down for less than five minutes when I was notified that the flight was canceled due to thunderstorms in Shenzhen. I had to walk out from the exit and re-inquire with the airline. Other later flights were either fully booked or also canceled. At this point, it was too late to switch to an overnight train, so I stood for over an hour waiting for Air China to handle it. They finally rescheduled the flight to 6:30 tomorrow morning and arranged shared hotel accommodation for the night—two people per room. My roommate was a local Beijinger working in communication software, who had just been to Taiwan for a meeting recently. Life is indeed about constant experiences, but this kind of experience once is enough. Waking up at 4 AM tomorrow, I still hope we can take off smoothly. @@ By Morgan @2016.6.5
