Location: Taichung, Bu Er Pastry, Egg Yolk Pastry
Travel note: Thanks to Brother Gong for the egg yolk pastries and lemon moon pastries. Even after Mid-Autumn Festival, it still took him nearly half an hour to buy these on a weekday. Compared to Bu Er Fang in Changhua, both use the same recipe passed down from their grandfather. However, they’ve developed independently. I haven’t tried the Changhua version, but the Taichung shop’s egg yolk pastry has a fragrant, crispy crust, sweet but not cloying red bean filling, and a slightly salty yolk—truly unforgettable overall. Thanks, Brother Gong! :) By Morgan @2021.10.21 evening
