Alex came from Taipei to Tainan to look at a piece of land, and on his way back through Taichung, he suddenly arranged a late-night wine tasting. So at 10 p.m., we gathered again at the same spot as last week. In Taichung, finding a restaurant open until 3 a.m. that doesn't charge a corkage fee—this place is truly one of the very few top choices. Seven people came today: besides Alex and me, there were Kevin and his girlfriend Xiaowan, Shengyan and Qibin, and Sandia, whom I met in Shenzhen. Alex brought red wines LV & Devil from a small American independent winery he'd searched for a long time—especially Devil, with an annual production of only about 10,000 bottles. He couldn't find it in Taipei, but unexpectedly found two bottles on this trip to Tainan. After buying out the store's stock, he brought them to Taichung to share with friends. Besides the red wine and a white wine with floral, citrus, and lime notes, Kevin also brought good whiskey—'Kura'—and a VSOP brandy, plus beer we drank like water.
