Location: Taichung, Dadongwu Live Eel Japanese Cuisine Travel note summary: Dadongwu Live Eel Japanese Cuisine in Taichung is located on Chaofu Road near Chaoma. It's not a very eye-catching shop, but business inside is booming, and the story behind its opening is quite interesting. The owner, a former track and field coach, teamed up with a group of his students to open this restaurant after retiring from coaching. Since his family originally raised eels, the biggest feature here is the freshly grilled eel rice. Listening to my friend's story, I was really looking forward to the eel rice that was about to be served. Because my friend's father is acquainted with the owner, besides enjoying the meal, I was happy to learn more about the story behind the restaurant. Unfortunately, the premium eel rice was sold out, so I had to order the large eel rice ($250) plus a bowl of eel liver soup ($80). The open counter has the grill right in the middle where you can see it. The eel liver soup came first—this was probably Morgan's first time trying something like this. Scooping the ingredients from the soup into my mouth, there was only a slight bitterness; it actually tasted quite refreshing.…
