Location: Taichung, Zhujian Hot Pot
Travel note: Zhujian Hot Pot (Chongde Branch), Xitun District, visiting a senior's home. At noon, my sister treated the whole family to a meal—thanks, sis! In the afternoon, Senior Don invited me to join a gathering of his Weidao High School classmates. Everyone present was a senior over 70 years old. Hang, Lin, Jiang, Fang, Huang, Xie, Zhu—seven seniors in total, along with some of their wives and two of their children working in the US or Vietnam. Seeing the seniors still gathering after over 60 years of friendship is truly rare. Listening to them clearly recall the names of different teachers from back then, as if it were just yesterday, was amazing. At the same time, hearing them share stories of a lifetime of hard work in various fields—building factories, founding schools, practicing medicine, land development, renewable energy—while drinking a 30-year-old Kinmen Kaoliang brought by one of the seniors, I felt like I was experiencing Taiwan's development history alongside them.
