At noon, I stopped by Qiao He Zhen Beef Noodles in Zhonghe, Taipei, to meet Jiajun, a college classmate I hadn't seen in over seven years, and we had beef noodles and a big plate of braised side dishes near his office. Since graduation, Jiajun has been working at WT Microelectronics, Taiwan's second-largest semiconductor component distributor, and is now a department manager; he told me about his love of sports and running—recently, he ran 207 km in a 24-hour ultramarathon (from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. the next day), ranking 4th among all participants in Taiwan.
