Travel note: Sushi Gun in an alley off Zhongshan North Road in Taipei. Chef Huang, the former head chef of Mars's familiar restaurant, has opened his own place, which just launched this month. So Mars gathered a few friends tonight to show support. Since the ingredients were all very fresh, we kept eating dish after dish without feeling overwhelmed. By the end, we had over twenty courses. Even without ordering drinks, it came to nearly 6,000 TWD per person. Sea bream, salmon, botan shrimp, uni, whitebait, red throat fish... many dishes were refreshingly sweet, with lingering aromas—a truly memorable Japanese restaurant.
