Travel note summary: My good friend John came up to Taipei from Hsinchu for a meeting. At noon, he found his classmate from their US study days, who is also my senior from Weidao High School, two years ahead—Pat. Along with a friend of Senior Pat, a big brother who is the CFO at Silicon Motion (Nasdaq: SIMO), the four of us just fit at one table, getting to know each other over a meal. Senior Pat was previously at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong, having reached the position of Managing Director (MD), and recently transferred back to the Taiwan branch, essentially the second-in-command. He mainly handles investment banking, IPOs, and has helped many Chinese and Taiwanese companies go public. Today's conversation revolved around others' investments in unlisted US companies or tech-related topics like NAND Flash. Coincidentally, Senior Pat has been interested in Yield Farming lately, so I briefly explained the principles of AMM automated market makers and directly taught him how to operate it on his phone. Thanks to Senior Pat for the lunch treat—a very enjoyable meal. :) By Morgan @ noon, May 10, 2021
