Location: Shiyu, an omakase Japanese sushi restaurant in a lane off Ren'ai Road, Taipei
Travel note summary: Dinner at Shiyu, an omakase Japanese sushi spot in a lane off Ren'ai Road, Taipei. Ray from Matrixport invited me, and I also brought Pat along. Ray spent ten years in Hong Kong, including working at the Hong Kong Exchange. Like me, he's part of 'Huijin Taiwan,' a group of Taiwanese finance professionals in Hong Kong. Pat also lived in Hong Kong for twelve years and even owns property there. So we started chatting about shared memories of Hong Kong and Macau. This place doesn't charge a corkage fee, and Ray brought a bottle of Dassai. Unlike regular Dassai, this one uses centrifugal separation technology to extract a purer, more aromatic sake from the already refined 23% polished daiginjo. A fantastic omakase sushi restaurant paired with great sake made for a brilliant dinner! Thanks for treating, Ray! Cheers! :) By Morgan @2022.9.6 evening
