Travel Notes: In the afternoon, an elderly couple sponsored a private screening of this film—thanks for the invitation. The film, 'Searching for 1920,' is a documentary about that era, produced by Li Gang, CEO of the Film Culture and Arts Foundation, and directed by Xu Mingchun. I thought it might be a rather heavy topic, but I was completely engrossed for the full two hours. It mainly tells the story of Xie Wenda, Taiwan's first pilot. After reading the introduction, I was surprised to discover that Xie Wenda was actually a first-generation alumnus of Taichung First Senior High School and also from Fengyuan, so watching it felt very personal. After the film, we heard from director Xu Mingchun and foundation CEO Li Gang about their journey in deciding to make this documentary. Even though they knew it wasn't a commercially viable topic, they still hoped to use the documentary format to shed light on that little-known history. Without genuine passion, this film wouldn't have come to be. Afterwards, I had some wagyu skewers at the nearby DON DON DONKI, then continued exploring wine bars in the evening.
