Travel Notes: In Taipei's Zhongshan District, at a stall in Songjiang Market and Peter Green Wine Cellar. An evening with Lao Zeng, a Hsinchu seafood king delayed by the tech industry, with millions of views on Google Photos and multiple high-level roles at HTC. The chosen spot was quite unique—inside Songjiang Market. Don, a senior alumnus managing several sizable U.S. hedge and pension funds with an astonishing net worth, surprisingly enjoys such down-to-earth local settings. Joined by Masaru-san, a Japanese friend of Lao Zeng's from Waseda University, the four of us enjoyed fresh seafood shipped directly from Kaohsiung by Lao Zeng: shark fin soup, crab roe paste, swordfish balls, oyster omelet, hairtail fish rolls, squid, beer shrimp... Lao Zeng isn't just a food lover; he genuinely enjoys cooking, borrowing utensils from the stall owner to prepare the meal himself. What's a feast without wine? I quickly popped over to a nearby wine cellar and picked two bottles of French and Italian white wine to pair with the food. A meal isn't complete without drinks.
