Location: Taipei, Hotel MV8 8F Lounge Vino
Travel Notes: Last night, while singing and drinking, I met lawyer David Yonghan and Morlise, the manager of several Taipei branches of Jipin Seafood Restaurant. Tonight, I had dinner with Brother Weilun, an old colleague from the investment trust company I've known for 13 years, who was also a good wine buddy when I lived in Hong Kong. It's been over ten years since I last visited Liyuan Soup Dumplings. After leaving J.P. Morgan, William is now the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at CCB International Asset Management in Hong Kong. It's rare for him to return to Taiwan, so we made plans to meet. Time flies, and the pandemic has indeed changed many life trajectories. It's been over four years since I last saw William, so we had a lot to catch up on, including Bitcoin ETFs. We agreed to meet again in Hong Kong soon to continue our conversation. After parting ways, I walked alone to the rooftop open-air bar at the nearby Hotel MV8, ordered a glass of wine, and spent some quiet time alone—currently the only customer in the bar—handling things on my phone and reflecting.
