Travel note: It's been over a year since I last saw Jeffery, who flew back from the US. We met up for lunch today with good friends Sam, senior Lman, and junior Jserv. As usual, I was in charge of picking the restaurant, so I hopped on the trend and booked one of Jensen Huang's favorite spots: Lao Lao. Jeffery, a CMU grad, spent many years at Apple leading the development of Siri's Chinese version. This weekend, he's leaving Apple to start his second act as an entrepreneur. With his background, he's naturally chosen a product related to AI. Over a numbing-but-not-too-spicy hot pot, we exchanged lots of insights on new tech trends and business models. Junior Jserv also shared how he keeps up with the times while teaching computer science at NCKU, engaging in a battle of wits with students over AI tools, both offensively and defensively.
