Travel Notes: 1496 Bar in Linsen North Road (8th visit). Andrew just got back from Hangzhou and messaged me, so I brought him to Brother Xiaohei's place tonight. The bar was supposed to be closed today, but I messaged Xiaohei, and he was so kind—he actually came to open on a Sunday night. I also invited my junior Fred, who works in the CVC department at Delta Electronics. Taiwan is small—Andrew and Xiaohei know so many people in common. Andrew attended a wedding banquet tonight for the son of Brother Zhuang, a former deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and also his senior from Taichung First Senior High School. Turns out Xiaohei also knows Brother Zhuang. And Andrew knows Jeff, the founder of a Nasdaq-listed company in the US—Xiaohei has eaten with him at least seven or eight times. Plus, they both easily know many other bosses from various listed companies. They also both know and are close with the famous Chairman Yuan from Taichung, who was at Xiaohei's bar just a few days ago. Later, we played Big Two to decide who pays.
