Travel note: This morning, I had breakfast with university friends like Ah Niu, Bo Min, and Ah Fu, plus my younger brother who we ran into by chance. I listened to Bo Min talk about using Hadoop and MapReduce for distributed systems at Trend Micro (scanning 10TB of data in 40 minutes) and Ah Fu's Big Data analysis work at Chunghwa Telecom. I also got to see Ah Niu again after a long time—last time was years ago when he was still at Transcend. Time flies... Later at noon, I came to this famous restaurant that expanded from Tainan with Ah Fu, Nai Wen, and her husband. Back when I studied in Tainan, Chef senior often took me to Yonglin for hot pot and told me about the owner's background and how they handle fresh beef to maintain its temperature... Such a nostalgic place! Nai Wen is still at Goldman Sachs, unchanged.
