On a rainy evening in Taipei, I ducked into 酒友社JYS on Jinan Road and asked the female manager if they had red wine by the glass—or I could just open a bottle. To my surprise, she said they’d just finished a tasting event on Saturday and had lots of wine left, so she wouldn’t charge me and invited me to sit down and help finish it. Since I was already there, I shamelessly took a seat and went with it, slowly working left to right through 16 French wines (13 Bordeaux reds + 3 whites), 25–50ml per pour, then going back for second and third rounds of the ones I liked. I met new wine friends: Kevin, a former translator now retaking exams for medical school; Maggie, a third-year PhD student at NTU; and Brother Luolin, who treated me to Serbian brandy. I drank until closing and bought three French wines to take home. Life is about taking things as they come and going with the flow~ Cheers! By Morgan @2025.9.2 evening #酒友社 #酒友社濟南店 #JYS
