Location: Taipei, Second Floor Restaurant (DunNan branch). Tonight I had dinner with Min-Yang, an intern I mentored back in my investment trust days. After finishing his military service this year, Min-Yang joined Cathay as a management associate, starting in the underwriting department before rotating to other units. I thought of another friend, Zheng-Liang, who has worked in various financial sectors—banking, investment advisory, securities proprietary trading, foreign investment trusts, and foreign insurance—so he could probably offer Min-Yang some advice. So the three of us had dinner together, introducing them to each other. Turns out Taiwan is a small place: Min-Yang’s grad school classmate had interned at J.P. Morgan, and as we chatted, we realized Zheng-Liang knew that classmate too. We talked about finance and all sorts of topics—two or three hours flew by. Thanks to Min-Yang for treating me. Youth is your greatest asset—keep pushing forward! :) By Morgan, Oct 6, 2014
