We came to this restaurant opened by the 'Godfather of Steak,' Deng Youkui, in an alley on Siwei Road. I had only tried his work at A Cut Steakhouse at Ambassador Hotel and No. Prime 168 Steakhouse at Victoria Hotel before. This time, we visited his own establishment. We ordered the evening set menu ($4200+10%) (about 1,080 RMB), plus a bottle of Merlot from California's famous Shafer Vineyards costing over three thousand. The set included foie gras, seafood soup, wild sea bream, and South African abalone. Of course, the star was the steak—I had Australian 7+ Wagyu 'Old Gourmet' steak, and my elder had U.S. New York strip. Although the 7+ Australian Wagyu was still tender and impressive, compared to the 9+ Wagyu I had at a Michelin-starred restaurant, it seemed to lack a little something—maybe the fat-to-meat ratio was lower.
