Travel note summary: After watching the Taiwan vs. Cuba game today, I went out for dinner. Right after finishing, I ran into Wenzheng again. Since we’ve bumped into each other two weeks in a row, of course we had to find another spot to sit and chat. We wandered around the nearby alleys, debating whether to just go to McDonald’s, when we suddenly came across a very inconspicuous shop entrance. We were still wondering whether to go in or look elsewhere when an uncle smoking at the door spoke up: “The food inside is pretty good, especially the braised lamb shoulder with figs and apricots.” “Are you the owner?” “No, I’m a customer. I came all the way from Beitou. Others came from places like Linkou too.” After discussing with Wenzheng, we went in. Later, we realized it really was an interesting place. The owner worked at a winery in New Zealand for over a decade before returning to Taiwan and opening this shop out of passion, just so friends could gather here in their free time.
