Location: One of the Four Vertical and Four Horizontal Routes: Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway
Travel Note Summary: After surviving the morning rush hour crowds on the Beijing subway, I finally made it to Beijing South Station with great difficulty. Since my Taiwan Compatriot Permit seemed to prevent online ticket purchases (note: later, senior Xianlong said it was possible), I had to buy tickets on-site. I originally wanted a second-class seat, but when I asked about the 10:00 train, the attendant said only first-class seats were left. The next train with second-class availability was two hours later. After a brief thought, I pulled out my UnionPay card—well, time is money, so I bought the first-class seat (933 RMB). The difference is that the seats are larger and more comfortable (only four seats per row), and the staff provides some snacks and drinks. Otherwise, there's not much difference. Departing from Beijing at 10:00, passing through Jinan and Nanjing, I arrived in Shanghai at 14:50, taking 4 hours and 50 minutes total. After checking into the Home Inn I booked on Agoda, I quickly jotted this down before heading out again :P By Morgan @2014.4.14
