Location: Guishan Island, Yilan
Travel note summary: Guishan Island is one of the very few outlying islands in Taiwan I haven't visited yet. (I've already been to Penghu, Kinmen, Xiao Liuqiu, Green Island, Orchid Island, and Keelung Islet—counted them all!) This time, it was an invitation from Brother Xiao Ci. Our group of 17, including children, gathered here from various places in Changhua and Taipei. There were Ricky's family, whom I hadn't seen in a long time and who work in the travel industry; Brother Xiao Hei and Brother Xiao Ci's friend Kevin, a lawyer; Brother Xiao Ci's high school classmate's family; and his former supervisor at Xerox, Brother Hong, and his family. Also, there was Sheng Rui, who started as Brother Xiao Ci's client, became a good friend, and now runs his own photography studio in Changhua. Setting out from Wushi Harbor, it takes about half an hour to reach Guishan Island. You can walk around the island in roughly 70 minutes. Guishan Island also has a rare underwater hot spring in the world, but ordinary tourists can't go soak in it—they can only view it from afar by boat.
