Location: Heyuan City, Guangdong
Travel Notes: Life needs to be lived in the present, striving to make each day good. Heyuan is located west of Meizhou and north of Huizhou, in eastern Guangdong. Like me, many probably haven't heard of this city. Though only a fourth-tier city, it has over three million people, mostly Hakka. After arriving, I discovered it has many highlights: first, a Guinness World Record dinosaur museum with the world's largest collection of dinosaur egg fossils (over 18,000, unearthed around Heyuan), dubbed China's Hometown of Dinosaurs. Thus, the Heyuan Hakka World scenic area here built a dinosaur-themed park (operated by the same group as Meizhou Hakka World). Then, Heyuan has what was once Asia's tallest fountain (169 meters, later surpassed by fountains in Inner Mongolia's Kangbashi, etc.), with a nightly music fountain show by the Xinfeng River. The suburbs have the Bavarian Manor project partnered with BGI, promoting a wellness, mind, and retirement hot spring town. Inside is a rare 360-degree rotating theater shaped like a Hakka tulou.
