Location: Hsinchu, Yuan Teishoku Travel Notes Summary: After playing badminton with friends on Saturday, we wandered around Jinshan Street and randomly chose Yuan Teishoku. I'd heard of this chain, and from the coaster, learned it's under the same group as Mabu Tea House and Egg Egg House. The place was packed during dinner. The menu lives up to its name, with 24 teishoku options covering sashimi, fried items, grilled dishes, stews, and rice bowls, priced from NT$200 to over NT$400. There are also family combos. We took a while to decide. I ordered the Den-Gaku Chicken Leg Teishoku (NT$210), while friends had pork cutlet and oyakodon teishoku. Adding NT$80 gets dessert and drink, including matcha parfait. The set comes with two side dishes, miso soup, and mountain vegetable rice (rice options available). The main dishes were well-cooked—the sesame oil chicken leg and pork cutlet were fine. Though portions looked small, we were full after finishing the rice. Overall, it's similar in price to Mabu Tea House but focused on Japanese meals.
