Location: Hsinchu Maedaya Japanese Charcoal Yakiniku All-You-Can-Eat Travel note summary: I’d heard about this Japanese yakiniku place almost three years ago when I first came to Hsinchu, but back then, rumors of poor service kept me away. One weekend evening after playing badminton with friends from UMC, we suddenly remembered this spot and decided to give it a try. Perhaps management had changed—the owner’s attitude seemed quite friendly. This meal was also to bid farewell to Yanlu, who’s leaving UMC for a career shift to Sinyi Realty, meaning he won’t be joining our weekend games anymore. I wanted us to eat and drink our fill, leaving with no regrets. Weekday lunch is NT$229+10%, while all other times including weekend dinners are NT$299+10%. The menu isn’t huge, but excluding veggies, there are about 15 meat and seafood options—all the basics like chicken thigh, shrimp, beef slices, and intestines are decent, with varied marinades. The chicken even uses curry, so for the price, it’s quite satisfying.
