Location: Hsinchu Thai Taste - Thai-style Noodles Travel note summary: Hsinchu Thai Taste - Thai-style Noodles. Near Hsinchu Train Station, there are some quite historic alleys (around Lane 88, Lane 96) that used to gather many beef noodle shops. As time flows, only a few beef noodle shops remain, but some foreign snacks and restaurants have appeared. Thai Taste is a small shop located here. The shop mainly serves Thai or Yunnan-Dian-Burmese style noodles and some snacks, like papaya salad. I ordered a bowl of soup-style Baiyi rice noodles (NT$60). Rice noodles should be a staple for Yunnan people; they taste a bit like Vietnamese pho or Cantonese rice noodle rolls, made by steaming and drying rice batter. When it was first served, I took a sip; the flavor seemed quite bland and not outstanding. I looked at the instructions on the table; it turns out the seasonings are placed on the side, letting customers adjust according to their taste. I opened the small chili vinegar jar and added a few spoons into the soup. Ah, eating it immediately gave a Thai taste—sour with a hint of spiciness, quite appetizing, so I finished all the soup.
