I really like eating submarine sandwiches, but in Hsinchu, aside from Subway, I rarely see shops selling them. I miss the cheap and hearty 50 TWD subs from the Tainan Bullfighter Light Meal Shop (which seems to have closed?). So when I saw subs on the online menu, I went to try it after work from the Science Park today. Food hunting is still my hobby :P. Walking down Ciyun Road opposite the main gate of the Science Park, turn left at Puding Road, and the shop is on the right. Although the interior is narrow and long, cleverly arranging seats on both sides allows it to seat over thirty people. The owner and his wife are quite friendly. I ordered a smoked beef sub ($60). The sub is somewhat like a mille-feuille, with layers of lettuce piled at the bottom, topped with cucumber, tomato slices, onion, and finally smoked beef slices spread with cheese. It looks quite substantial. As for the taste, it was just okay. Perhaps there was too much lettuce, making the flavors less harmonious. But given the mid-to-low price p…
