Travel notes: Hsinchu - Ryutaro Affordable Japanese Cuisine. So last Monday, after just finishing seven consecutive gatherings over three days, a friend happened to wander up from the south and, when in Hsinchu, stopped by to have a meal with me. So that night, I added one more to the gathering count and went to another famous affordable Japanese cuisine place in Hsinchu, Ryutaro. It also has a branch on Xida Road, but we went to the Far Eastern Department Store main store. The shop is quite small, so there aren't many seats, but there were quite a few customers, so we had to share a table with others. The dining environment can be said to be not that comfortable. The two of us ordered the tempura shrimp set meal (240) plus a plate of assorted sushi and a donburi, totaling $470. Honestly, personally, I feel its set meal is not as abundant as Fushan's. Although the price is a bit cheaper, besides the main dish of tempura shrimp, it only has side dishes, chawanmushi, a bowl of white rice, and a bowl of miso soup, making it feel a bit monotonous.
