Travel notes: After finishing training, I took one trip south and one north—perfect timing. Last Friday afternoon, I took a Guoguang bus alone and arrived in Hsinchu in the evening. I got off in front of the overpass on Guangfu Road and strolled into the Tsinghua University campus. Suddenly, my phone rang—it was Brother Xu, an IT manager at Qian Yue gas station. He said his colleague saw me in Tainan recently and thought I was still in my PhD program, so he wanted to have a meal together. I told him about my current situation and said I’d catch up with him next time I’m in Tainan or Pingtung. Too bad Qian Yue hasn’t expanded north of Taichung yet, or I’d ask him to set me up with a VIP in their database so I wouldn’t have to pay so much for gas :P. After that, I called my younger brother, who’s studying at Tsinghua’s Department of Power Mechanical Engineering. He was skipping class reading manga—what a slacker, even more than me!
