Travel notes summary: JR Cafe Fashion Hall in Hsinchu. Another long-time reader of my blog, celine, invited me to eat at this JR Cafe Fashion Hall one day. It's located right across from the Lakeshore Hotel. It shares the same name as the JR in Jinshan Street, so when paying, I casually asked the staff and found out this is actually a branch of JR Gia Western Restaurant. Even though the location is quite remote, business seems decent. The interior is nicely decorated, and the menu is similar to JR's, offering gratin, pasta, etc., below steak options. I ordered a seafood gratin pasta (280 + 10% service charge), which came with soup, bread, salad, and a drink. I've tried JR's steak before and thought it was pretty good: Hsinchu JR (Gia Western Restaurant). This time, the gratin was okay, but maybe because the appetizers were already quite filling, I felt pretty full later on. Plus, gratin can get heavy, so I struggled to finish it, but I slowly managed to eat the whole plate—though the marginal satisfaction dropped a lot.
