Travel note: ASTRI in Hong Kong is somewhat similar to Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute. Today, I came here with other colleagues to give a presentation and exchange ideas. It's been a while since I wore a suit out, so I put it on for the occasion. Over half of the attendees today were PhDs. Besides our presentation, we also listened to them share some of their practical projects on big data analysis and cloud technology. Since there was also a female PhD from Korea, the frequency of English usage during the conversation was higher than Chinese. It reminded me that I need to work harder on my English; otherwise, I still feel quite inadequate when communicating with the broader world. @@ After the meeting, I accompanied a colleague who's a physics PhD to a pharmacy in Sha Tin, Hong Kong, to buy Wakamoto for someone he's pursuing. I happened to have taken it for a while, so I helped him look for it there. To thank me, he treated me to dinner at Maxim's MX in Sha Tin Centre.
