Location: Hong Kong, Mong Kok, Yu Yan, Cantonese cuisine/dim sum, first visit. Travel note: Came to Hong Kong at noon today to have lunch with my former supervisor, Brian. Feels like every time I'm in Hong Kong, I'm just eating non-stop. In the morning, Brian first took me to a local spot, Fu Kee, for congee—their signature 'jidi congee' was packed with ingredients. After buying herbal tea from a street stall, Brian showed me around his place, where we watched Taiwanese TV news on elections while he treated me to the apparently famous Little Bear Cookies in Hong Kong. Then we wandered around Mong Kok—Langham Place, Pioneer Centre, Nathan Road... At 2 PM, we queued up for this dim sum place he loves, and the food was indeed excellent. After all that eating, I was so full I could barely walk. Before parting, Brian even bought me beef shengjian bao from Wen Chai Bao Dian to take away—really grateful for his warm hospitality! At the MTR station, I tried calling phantom, an old friend who now lives in Hong Kong after marriage—she'd said to look her up next time I'm here, but the call didn't go through; she probably went back to Taiwan to vote too. So, off to Luohu to head back home~ :p …
