Location: Hong Kong, Mei Ho House
Travel notes: Mei Ho House in Hong Kong, and Tai Kwun (the former Central Police Station and Victoria Prison). Mei Ho House was originally a public housing estate in Hong Kong, located between Sham Shui Po and Shek Kip Mei. It was later renovated into an international youth hostel at a cost of over 200 million Hong Kong dollars, with an exhibition hall showcasing life in public housing back then. Tai Kwun, located near PMQ in Central, is a newly opened attraction in recent months. The website said online reservations were required, but on-site, I found you could just walk in. It's a revitalization of the former Central Police Station and Victoria Prison. I visited the prison cells and the exercise yard for prisoners, getting a glimpse of the prison scenes I'd seen in Hong Kong movies. Finally, I headed to Lai King Station to view the Kwai Chung Container Terminal from afar, feeling the onset of the evening lights, and thus ended today's journey. ~ By Morgan, evening of September 8, 2018.
