Travel Notes: Hong Kong-Taiwan Laptop Shipping Saga. When I returned to Taiwan from Hong Kong during the New Year, because I made a detour to the Philippines, I only brought back my small Asus travel laptop. After struggling for a few months, the hard drive inside developed problems, so I had to ask my former Hong Kong colleague Kehuai to help ship back my workstation-grade Lenovo P50. After several days of continuous communication with FedEx and Taiwan Customs, it was finally released this morning and I received it this afternoon. (Customs thought the declared value was too low, so they required proof of purchase.) Although the shipping plus customs duties totaled over five thousand NTD, after many months, being able to see my long-lost companion again and have it boot up normally was still quite moving. Thanks, Kehuai, and congratulations on soon becoming a dad!
