Location: Taichung Central District, Visiting a Senior Night
Travel note: Today, I visited a senior from our alma mater, Weidao, with my military friend from the alternative service, Yujia, who also attended Weidao. The senior's family home near Taichung Railway Station is 55 years old, but he recently spent millions renovating it with a retro-innovative industrial style. Senior Qingquan is 26 years ahead of me and a true eccentric. He studied mathematics and computer engineering, left Bell Labs in the US, founded and successfully sold two companies, then switched from wireless communications to work at a US brokerage and asset management firm. He now also manages a fund under J.P. Morgan. He has collaborated with many Taiwanese entrepreneurs, including Terry Gou, and currently invests in many companies in Taiwan, including Syscom and Hengyi. Holding a green card, he usually lives on the US East Coast but is stuck in Taiwan due to the pandemic this year, which is why we had the chance to gather in Taichung tonight. After chatting, I found out Senior Qingquan is not only my senior from Weidao Junior High but also a senior from Taichung First Senior High School. It really is fate! ^^…
