Location: Taichung, Hen Niu Charcoal-grilled Steak (takeout). During the pandemic, we couldn't gather for meals, but when the craving for a drink hit, I went to have a glass with my Taichung friend, Brother Gong. He opened a bottle of daiginjo that a friend gave him, and knowing I love beef, he even had his staff go out at noon to buy 16 oz wet-aged steak from this nationwide chain steakhouse for lunch. We chatted about his past when he'd sometimes win or lose a house's worth in the stock market in a day, and his memories of going to Inner Mongolia and Yunnan to buy stone materials to sell to Sheraton hotels.
