Location: 18-day South Asia Trip Travel Notes: Ended this 18-day, impromptu South Asia trip yesterday. I really decided to go less than a week before departure and started looking for information, spending a weekend arranging flights, visas, and accommodations as much as possible. Of course, I also used AI during the process to give me various suggestions for the itinerary. In the end, I entered and visited 4 countries (Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Nepal). The trip included 10 flight segments, 8 international and 2 domestic. I transited in multiple places like Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. It also pushed the number of countries I've visited in the world to 42. For me, life is about experiences, so running around doesn't feel tiring; instead, I'm mostly excited. Being able to see new scenery, meet new people, go to new countries, and experience new things. All kinds of new discoveries are indeed great learning opportunities. "Reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles." This phrase I heard as a child still deeply influences me now. By Morgan @2026.2.12
Location: Nepal, Singing Bowl Music Therapy Experience Travel note summary: Experienced Nepalese singing bowl music therapy and visited the Mountain Museum. Singing bowls (Tibetan Singing Bowl) are traditional instruments and healing tools from the Himalayan region, often used for meditation, yoga, sound therapy, and relaxation. This morning, I climbed to the temple at the mountain top to try the singing bowl therapy. The Yogi instructor had me lie down indoors, covered my eyes with a towel, and I focused on listening and feeling with my body to the different musical frequencies from the bowls, corresponding to the seven chakras. The sound turned into resonant vibrations that transmitted into different parts of my body. In the silence, it felt as if the sound came from the depths of the universe; for a moment, my body seemed to float slightly—a pretty magical experience! Location: Nepal, Pokhara Travel note summary: One-day tour in Pokhara, Nepal: boating on the lake, visiting caves, temples, Peace Pagoda, and 360 Sky Lounge. The Shiva temple hidden in an underground cave was particularly special; I washed my hands with snowmelt water from the Himalayas. For lunch, I tried Nepalese beer, and in the evening, I went to the most famous rooftop bar for wine with a lake view. Location: Nepal - BARC, Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025 Travel Note Summary: BARC, a bar in Nepal that made Asia's 50 Best Bars list for 2025. Meeting an old friend in a foreign land. I spent the whole day busy in the hotel. In the afternoon, I ordered room service and had the local Nepali dish Thili delivered to my room. I also had an online meeting and researched the current developments in AI Agents. I even opened Cursor, which I hadn't used in over half a year, to vibe code some new ideas. In the evening, I met up with my painter friend from Taiwan, Shihong. It was my last night in Kathmandu, and Shihong had just returned to the city after traveling around Nepal, so it was a rare chance for us to meet up. It's especially interesting because we both left Taiwan without knowing the other was coming, and yet we managed to meet thousands of miles away in Nepal. Naturally, we had to have a few drinks. We met at BARC, a place Shihong had been to several times, which has won the honor of being on Asia's 50 Best Bars list for two consecutive years. We started with a set of drinks corresponding to five different spices/ingredients (rice, dried ginger, star anise, bay leaf + clove, orange peel), which was quite distinctive. In the end, each of us had four sets (glasses) of cocktails or mixed drinks. We then used the local ride-hailing app, InDrive, to get a taxi back to the hotel. (On this trip, from PickMe in Sri Lanka to Grab in Myanmar/Thailand, and now installing InDrive... InDrive uses a driver bidding price model, so I learned about a new ride-hailing mode!) It was truly a rare and memorable night! Cheers~ By Morgan @ Evening of 2026.2.5 #BARC #Asias50BestBars #Nepal #Kathmandu
Location: Nepal - Kathmandu UNESCO World Heritage One-Day Tour Travel Note Summary: Nepal - Kathmandu UNESCO World Heritage One-Day Tour. Yesterday, I booked a one-day tour on KLook. A local guide and driver took us to seven famous cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu. After getting on the bus in the morning, I found out there were six members in the group today: three from Spain (a father, son, and cousin combo), and a white couple. The young Spanish guy had a friend who was a soccer coach in Kaohsiung, so he had been to many places in Taiwan, like Jiufen and Shifen... He usually lives in Shanghai. This time, his father and cousin came to visit him there. They first traveled to Xi'an and Beijing, then flew to Nepal. It's interesting how fate works—we all ended up joining the same tour in Nepal and met by chance. A very fulfilling day visiting many sights in Kathmandu. The last stop was the Hindu Pashupatinath Temple, which reminded me of the scenes I saw by the Ganges in Varanasi. It was very moving and a different kind of religious impact regarding life and death. In the evening, back in the old town of Thamel, I found a Kathmandu Grill Restaurant & Wine Bar. I ordered a steak and tried local Nepali red and white wines (Pataleban Wine) with the meal, which had its own unique flavor. Because I gave the restaurant some suggestions, the manager kindly treated me to a dessert after the meal. By Morgan @ Evening of 2026.2.3 #Nepal #Nepal #Kathmandu #Kathmandu #UNESCO
Location: Nepal - Kathmandu Patan Palace Travel Note Summary: Nepal - Kathmandu Patan Palace (Patan Museum, Nepal). I had an online meeting today, so I didn't schedule my itinerary too tightly. I just slowly wandered from the ancient palaces and temples in the morning to a modern shopping mall. For lunch, I had a Nepali meal set: Khaja. In the evening, I went to the rooftop pool bar of a high-end hotel (Vivanta Kathmandu, Koko Bar). I opened a bottle of Portuguese red wine by myself and, in my usual slightly tipsy state, enjoyed Nepal's beautiful dusk. After night fell, I asked the server to transfer my remaining red wine to the neighboring Asian restaurant, where I switched to ordering black pepper buffalo meat to go with the wine. I continued drinking while admiring the city night view. From day to night, I experienced many fleeting glimpses of life here in Nepal. By Morgan @ Evening of 2026.2.2 #Nepal #Nepal #Kathmandu
Location: Nepal - Buffalo MoMo Travel Note Summary: Nepal - Buffalo MoMo (Buffalo MoMo @ Nepal). As soon as I got off the plane, I was chased by two travel agents. One directly came to the lobby of the hotel where I was checking in, opened a laptop, and started introducing itineraries to me. The other followed me all the way from the airport and later invited me to chat at the restaurant where he was. Since I was at the restaurant, he insisted I must try Nepali dumplings. So I ordered pan-fried buffalo dumplings (Mo.Mo). After they were served and I tried them, they were unexpectedly delicious! Accompanied by two glasses of wine, one red and one white, it was a perfect first meal in Nepal. By Morgan @ Evening of 2026.2.1 #42ndCountry #Nepal #Nepal P.S. At the ATM in Nepal airport, my Taiwanese debit card couldn't withdraw cash, but surprisingly, my cryptocurrency card could withdraw Nepali cash! XD

Location: India Travel note: In the afternoon, I first hosted a DeFi workshop (Side Event) at ABS, discussing AAVE (lending), GMX (futures), and Zomma (options). Afterward, exchanged business cards with Weizhe from the Commercial Times, who also interviewed the 'Indian prodigy' yesterday. Also ran into Brother Ji from ACDC, whom I hadn't seen in a while. Then it was the usual drinking session—tonight I met Allen and Edwin, who specialize in investments, and Fiona, a beauty from Shining Group who also shares a love for red wine, and we chatted a lot about wine topics. Location: Vladivostok, Russia Travel Notes: Tokarevskiy Lighthouse, Vladivostok, Russia. Location: Korean-style Sauna, Yanji City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture Travel Notes: Korean-style Sauna, Yanji City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture. As I mentioned before, I hope to live like a local when staying in a city, to truly experience its spirit. So since I'm in the Korean Autonomous Prefecture, besides eating cold noodles, gimbap, small rice balls, kimchi, Korean fried chicken, bibimbap, makgeolli, samgyetang... this evening, I first listened to a group of Korean grandmothers singing sijo (a Korean song form), then went to a Korean-style sauna often seen in K-dramas. After getting a ticket and wristband at the entrance, I went to the bathhouse to shower. Inside, I thought the last time I had a scrub was two years ago during a Turkish bath in Turkey, so I had someone give me a good scrub~ After the scrub, reborn with smooth skin, I dried my hair, changed clothes, took the elevator upstairs to the sauna hall. It was my first time at a Korean sauna, so I learned by watching, as most people around were speaking Korean. I just followed what everyone did. In the sauna room, there's a concave brick area where you can lie,趴着, or sit; the floor is warm, so you sweat quickly after lying there awhile. After sweating, in the main hall, you can drag a black mat and pillow to lie down and rest, or sit in a circle with friends to chat. Finally, I understand why Koreans can stay overnight in saunas in K-dramas—the floor outside is spacious, and lying on a mat with a pillow is really comfortable; I almost fell asleep there, especially after sweating a lot and rehydrating. There's also a cafeteria nearby to order Korean food. With a small towel over my shoulders, walking barefoot freely inside is indeed a relaxed mode, and a great place to pass time and bond. No wonder Koreans are so keen on saunas~ XD #Maybe the life I pursue is about constantly接触与学习 various cultures~
Location: Harbin Travel Notes: Harbin - Volga Russian Wine Castle Estate. In 1896, after Li Hongzhang signed the Sino-Russian Secret Treaty on behalf of the Qing government, Russia legitimately built the Chinese Eastern Railway in the Far East. As the railway hub, Harbin saw a large influx of Russian expatriates moving to the city. From the Daoli (Railway) District stretching to the Songhua River, Harbin now bears Russian influences everywhere. For food, there's Harbin red sausage (introduced from Russia and Lithuania, quite fragrant). For drink, there's kvass, popular in Russia and Eastern Europe (fermented from dried bread and brewer's yeast, tasting like a bread-flavored drink, but quite tasty). And the Orthodox churches I often saw in Ukraine are also here (St. Sophia Cathedral). Vodka, regarded by Russians as the 'water of life', in a wine castle in Harbin's suburbs, after learning about its 500-year history, drinking it from an ice-cold cup made of ice was a unique experience. Enjoying Russian歌舞風情 in Harbin is refreshing. If it weren't for the hassle of applying for a Russian visa with a Taiwanese passport, I might have just headed straight into Russia. @@
Location: Dubai Travel Notes: Sanya, Phoenix Island. This is an artificial island in Sanya modeled after Dubai. Tonight, I booked a huge high-floor room with the most expansive balcony in one of the iconic five buildings. From the balcony, I can see the other four Phoenix Center towers. The balcony even has a large bathtub where I can fill it with water and soak. Braving the cold wind, I hide in the warm water, slowly sipping a freshly opened Australian red wine. Slightly tipsy, I ponder solutions to many problems while gazing at Sanya's enchanting harbor nightscape, ready to count down to the New Year. Looking back on 2018, perhaps many things didn't go as hoped, but welcoming the arrival of 2019—Still To be all you can be! Cheers~ Wishing all my family and friends a Happy New Year!!! May everyone have peace and smooth sailing~ :) By Morgan on the evening of 2018.12.31

Location: Pune, India Travel note: Pune, India—a city of five million people. Eating, eating by the pool, eating by the pool while watching an Indian wedding.
Location: Mumbai, India Travel note: Mumbai, India. Exactly five years have passed since my last visit to India—last time was the capital New Delhi, this time it's Mumbai. So many ups and downs have happened in these five years, it feels like a lifetime has passed in the blink of an eye. The incessant honking in India has lessened a lot, but the crowded traffic remains the same. The world is so vast, and we are so small within it—all we can do is keep moving forward.
